The Best Defense is a Strong Offense
Right from the start Our Fearless Leader has gone on the offensive. Never one to be concerned with facts, he created a desperate situation where there was none. The two previous administrations cut the number of immigrants entering the country. The numbers coming across our southern border had gone down each year for decades. Statistically, the likelihood of an immigrant perpetrating a violent crime is significantly less than a native.
Again, why worry about facts? Our Fearless Leader built his offensive on attacking institutions Americans have put their faith in for our entire history. Let’s take a look at a few targets: the press, the intelligence community and congress.
News has always had bias going back to Cain’s take on the murder of his brother. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” If you have to think about the answer, you’re the perfect target for Our Fearless Leader. Intelligent citizens can distinguish between bias and fake news. This is why our Founding Fathers and Mothers established the first amendment. The press, which consists of journalists who adhere to a higher moral and ethical code than you’ll find on Twitter, works to earn the respect of its readers. When a member of the profession violates this code, it hurts the entire institution. Such violations are the exception, not the rule. Unless, of course, you believe what you read on Twitter.
When Our Fearless Leader took office, he praised the work of the FBI and its leader. Of course, he did. A few days before the election, James Comey reopened the Hillary Clinton email case. Some suspect this move cast a shadow over her and led to her defeat. As the old saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Unfortunately, Our Fearless Leader did not understand the role of the intelligence community is to investigate questionable behavior no matter who the culprit is.
Did Comey exercise poor judgement? That’s debatable. Was he doing his duty when he chose to examine the question of whether collusion between a campaign and a foreign nation took place? Based on the House of Representatives unanimous vote, including all 197 Republicans, to release the information from the investigation, which Our Fearless Leader calls a witch hunt, it appears he was.
Like the press, the intelligence community contains a few bad actors, but the vast majority preserve and protect our freedoms.
Finally, what about Congress? It’s easy to find fault with Congress. After all, it’s a group of politicians. Funny thing, though, it was a group of politicians when our Founding Fathers and Mothers wrote the Constitution and brought it into existence. The same Constitution that gave Congress the power to write the laws, control the purse strings and be the check on the other two branches of government.
We know there is corruption within the halls of Congress. It’s been documented over the course of more than two hundred years. Most often it’s the money–and that’s a topic for another discussion.
Our Fearless Leader only finds fault with Congress when he is the target of their investigation. This past weekend he even attacked a dead senator. He goes on the offensive rather than defend whatever integrity he may have. That says it all.
